Mostransavto Switches to R7 Office and Astra Linux
As part of a large-scale import substitution project, the company has moved to the Russian-made solutions R7 Office and Astra Linux

Mostransavto, a regional transportation company, has announced the completion of a large-scale project to replace the foreign software in its office IT infrastructure with Russian solutions. As part of the project, the company migrated to the Russian solutions R7 Office and Astra Linux, which ensure continuity and high availability of key business processes.

The project covered 2,500 users and included the full cycle of work, from architecture design and deployment to ongoing support of the integrated solution. The result is a modern, fault-tolerant system that combines office software, document storage, and a collaboration system for internal and external users.

The project was carried out by a consortium of Unity LLC and 2D Systems LLC. Because of the nature of its operations, Mostransavto sets the highest requirements for the reliability and continuity of its information systems, which must run 24/7/365 (seven days a week, around the clock, all year). The requirements for the proposed solution were therefore very strict.

Assessing the results, Rafael Sukiasyan, Chief Information Officer of JSC Mostransavto, described the key goals and objectives: “When we started the project, we were careful not only in choosing products from Russian vendors but also in defining our requirements for the solution’s future operation. Among other things, we required that the number of users could grow without changes to the architecture of the proposed solution. To make sure the system was ready for demanding operating conditions, we made load testing a mandatory stage of the work. In addition, we received the full set of documentation and descriptions our operations team needs, as well as warranty support for all components of the system.”

Commenting on the results, Albert Isabekov, Project Manager at Unity LLC, said: “In preparing for the project, we were tasked not only with selecting products and choosing the solution, but also with organizing the infrastructure, coordination, and project management. We not only met all requirements for reliability, security, and availability, but also completed the entire cycle of work in an extremely short time. The success of the whole project came from the readiness of the IT infrastructure that our engineers provided. That includes not only server operating systems but also storage subsystems, databases, the network, and even communication within the team.”

Konstantin Sviridov, Chief Technology Officer of 2D Systems, shared some details of the project and the approaches used: “The solution implemented at Mostransavto is based on a containerized R7 platform, Corporate Server 2024, built to meet requirements for high availability and scalability. The architecture includes:

  • fault-tolerant S3 data storage;
  • database clustering;
  • a message broker;
  • key-value databases;
  • separation of front-end and back-end traffic using load balancers.

The load balancers run in fault-tolerant mode using the VRRP protocol, which automatically redistributes the load during failures and eliminates downtime.”

The project’s key requirement was high availability of all components, both hardware and software. The solution ensures continuous 24/7 operation of business services even if individual infrastructure nodes fail.

“The measure of quality for any IT system is flawless operation. The joint project team and Mostransavto experts built an infrastructure that does exactly that: it runs reliably and stably, with no failures or downtime. As a result, the customer received a predictable, fault-tolerant environment that can withstand the real-world loads of a large transport company around the clock,” said R7 CEO Evgeny Shelkovnikov.

The move to R7 Office and Astra Linux has allowed Mostransavto not only to achieve technological independence, but also to build a solid foundation for the company’s further digital transformation and service development.
